When in Essex this is the place to be…

Sheesh has become renowned locally and far as an extremely sophisticated eatery and entertainment venue that offers World Class musicians that perform in their Upstairs Cocktail bar on certain nights of the week with a great selection of drinks to suit all.

If you are ever in Essex this is the place to be. Based in Chigwell,  Sheesh is soaked in history and a very swanky setting, Sheesh is a traditional Turkish restaurant Serving Award Winning Food and First Class Entertainment. Open 7 Days a week, Sheesh serves some of the best food we have ever had. The ambience and atmosphere is amazing with a cool buzz and chilled vibe.

Inside the doors of Sheesh, the black-and-white Tudor theme is given a modern interpretation. You walk around in a daze, with superior decor inside and out.

Now onto the food, we would recommend it all as it really is all amazing, and be sure to check out the main kitchen were you can see the chefs at work with the eye-catching grill where the meat and fish is cooked to perfection, it really is a well oiled machine. The Staff are superb and very attentive and the whole place is run to perfection with attention to every last detail.

To start we had a mixture of a few things, the Kalamari – Fresh squid, battered served with homemade sauce, Sigara Boregi – Thin pastry filled with cheese & spinach then rolled, Lahmacun – Homemade Turkish pizza with onion salad, Hellim – Grilled Turkish cheese with onions, Shrimp Saganaki Prawns – with tomato & Feta cooked in a traditional pan, Taze Manta – Creamy garlic button mushrooms, topped with cheese, Karisik Meze A mixed selection of homemade dips, all served with fresh homemade bread, perfection.

For the mains we had Lamb Sis – Marinated cubes of lamb grilled on skewer, Tavuk Sis – Cubes of chicken breast marinated then grilled, Fener Baliği – Monk Fish kebab with a light garlic sauce. All Meat and fish dishes are cooked on charcoal & served with salad. Now, we have eaten a lot of lamb, chicken and fish in our time but we have to say this is the best we have tasted, perfectly cooked, full of flavour and makes us want to come to Essex every week. Oh and the grilled king prawns are to die for!!! The staff are very attentive and look after you from start to finish.

Now if you’re not already full, you have to try dessert, a great selection and we went for the Fresh Cheesecake covered in hot chocolate sauce with ice cream, Tiramasu drizzled with fresh cream, and if you love Bread & Butter Pudding you have to try this served with fresh thick cream. 

We love coming here for the food, the atmosphere and how everyone is dressed up to the nines which we love. From the amazing staff to the amazing food you can’t go wrong here. This is the place we always go to when in Essex and our favourite place to eat, so be sure to check it out when your next in the area.
