They have a creamy centre enveloped in a soft dough, hard to resist. Each cookie is then topped with crunchy chopped hazelnuts placed on small, charming tufts of Nutella: enjoy with hot tea or coffee, and see how their taste wins you over at first bite!
Ingredients
- 180g/3/4 cup Nutella
- 135g/1 cup flour
- 1 egg
For the filling:
- 4.4 oz (125 g) Nutella
- 3 ¼ tbsp (30 g) hazelnuts
Method
To prepare the Nutellotti, place the Nutella in a large bowl and add the egg and mix until combined. Add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms with a spatula. Shape and place in the fridge to rest for at least 15-20 minutes covered with transparent wrap/clingfilm. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and form gold size balls, then place on a sheet pan lined with baking paper. Use your fingers to poke a small dimple in the centre.
Cook in a preheated oven at 340°F (170° C) for about 10 minutes. When they are ready (the cookies will be quite soft), let them cool on a baking rack.
When cooled, put the Nutella in a star-shaped pastry bag and fill the cookies, making a small tuft in the center of each one. Once you’ve filled all the cookies, top them with chopped hazelnuts.
