Crostini, means ‘little crust’ in Italian and they are the perfect snack and very moreish. Here is our family recipe, so easy to make, you are going to love them.
Ingredients
- 500g plain flour
- 10g salt
- 250ml warm water
- 50ml extra virgin olive oil
- Coarse sea salt & pepper
- Rosemary, finely chopped
Method
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, water and olive oil. Mix together well to create the dough. Then knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for one minute.
Divide the dough in half and roll out with a rolling pin on un-greased baking sheet. Roll out very thinly as it will rise in the oven.
Once rolled out, with a fork, make little holes all over the surface. Sprinkle coarse sea salt, pepper and rosemary on top of each sheet. Cut into small squares with a rotary pizza cutter, it doesn’t matter if they aren’t perfect, their not suppose to be, it’s rustic.
When done, put into a pre-heated oven at 180C degrees for around 15/20 mins until golden. Keep an eye on them as some may cook quicker than others depending on sizes.
Leave to cool down then enjoy these beautiful, simple and easy snacks. Perfect with honey and cheese and for dipping.
Buon Appetito
